The Oregon AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor, Congress of Industrial Organizations) has changed its name to the Oregon Labor Federation, AFL-CIO. The organization represents over 300,000 working Oregonians and nearly 300 affiliated local unions.
“Our mission to build a fair and just economy for all working Oregonians will never change,” said Graham Trainor, President of the Oregon Labor Federation. “Changing our organization’s name and branding is part of ongoing efforts to ensure we are recognizable everywhere we have power: the legislature, the campaign trail, and in communities and workplaces statewide.”
The change to the organization’s name and image was announced at the Oregon AFL-CIO’s recent Executive Board meeting in Portland and will be a keystone of the organization’s biennial convention in 2027.
“Institutions like the AFL-CIO are hallowed, vital components of the labor movement,” said Sarina Roher, RN, Secretary-Treasurer of the Oregon Labor Federation and President of OFNHP, AFT Local 5017. “By changing our name, we are simply making it easier to immediately recognize who we are and what we do: We’re a federation of workers and unions fighting for dignity and respect.”
