Take Action: LiUNA Local 483 Strike in Portland

Updated: Feb 2, 2023

Unless the City of Portland comes to the table with a sensible offer that respects and values laborers employed by the city, LiUNA Local 483 members will take the heroic step of walking off the job tonight at midnight. As always, when any worker faces injustice, we all face injustice and the potential strike in Portland is no exception. It’s time for the Oregon Labor Movement to stand together and support these hard working laborers who truly make the City of Roses run day in and day out.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Send a letter to Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and Portland City Council. Click here for the template and contact information needed to send your letter. Please send this as soon as possible to keep up the pressure on the City.

  2. Sign up for a picket shift. Click here to sign up for your shift. The more allies we have walking the line, the stronger the strike will be.

  3. Donate to the Solidarity Fund. Click here to make a donation to the LiUNA 483 Solidarity Fund.

  4. Share a graphic on social media. Click here to find several graphics ready to go for your social media feed. Make sure to tag LiUNA Local 483 in your post, Facebook and Twitter.

When workers go on strike it is the duty of the Labor Movement to help them hold the line and fight for a fair contract and dignity and respect on the job. Please do whatever you can to help LiUNA local 483 members reach a fair deal by supporting their strike efforts. Together, we can make a difference.

For logistical questions related to the strike, please contact Chris Maxie at chris@oraflcio.org or Sophie Peters at sophie@oraflcio.org.
