Oregon AFSCME Executive Director Stacy Chamberlain has published a blistering guest opinion in The Oregonian about why state legislators who voted to cut retirement benefits for Oregon’s public workers do not deserve the support of unions:
“AFSCME members work hard, have difficult jobs, and deserve the money they make whether it is in their salary or in their retirement. When it comes to politics, our members don’t owe any political party or politician an endorsement. These two facts were the basis for the decision our board made to disqualify legislators who voted for the anti-worker Senate Bill 1049 from our endorsement process in 2020.
