Graduate Employees Win Tentative Agreement at University of Oregon!

After 14 hours of intensive mediation, the Graduate Teaching Fellows Federation, AFT Local 3544, has reached a tentative agreement with the University of Oregon! The next step for these hardworking graduate employees is to vote on the ratification of this agreement.

GTFF’s members have been working without a contract since March 31 and have been fighting hard to win a fair contract with the University. Graduate employees are a vital, central component to making the University of Oregon a nationally recognized institution of higher education and deserve a contract that reflects their important role on campus.

Oregon AFL-CIO President Graham Trainor said of the agreement in Eugene:

“This is a hard-fought step forward for the GTFF, and an inspiration for workers everywhere. The Oregon Union Movement is proud to have stood united with graduate employees at the University of Oregon in their fight for a fair contract. This effort, yet again, illustrates what’s possible when working people put it all on the line for fairness and dignity on the job and we stand ready to support any group of workers in their struggle for justice. ”
