Nationwide, working people are struggling to feed their families, keep a roof over their head, afford health care costs or other everyday essentials needed to survive the unprecedented economic devastation caused by the pandemic. Despite the fact that House Democrats passed the HEROES Act nearly three months ago and weekly federal UI benefits have expired, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell continues to sit on his hands and watch idly as millions face financial ruin.
Today, in solidarity with the workers organizing food distributions at Senate offices, thousands of people are pledging to fast and calling on the Senate to take #FastAction for the tens of millions of jobless Americans struggling to survive this pandemic.
By joining the fast, a deeply personal action, we will bring new personal commitment toward social transformation and elevate a strong sense of moral urgency for national leaders to take action. We understand that participating in a fast is a complex personal decision. If you have determined that you are unable to fast but would like to otherwise participate click the button below to call your U.S. Senators and urge passage of the HEROES Act.
TO TAKE ACTION:
Today, post an “empty plate” solidarity picture on social media with the hashtag, “#FastAction,” tagging Senators who refuse to pass the HEROES Act. Don’t forget to add a personalized message for your Senators about why they need to take #FastAction NOW.
Nominate 3 friends to tag to encourage to take the pledge
