The following information was compiled from legislative voting records, responses to written questionnaires and interviews, and public records which indicate the representatives' positions on issues of importance to working families. Based on this information, more than 300 union delegates to the Oregon AFL-CIO convention voted to forward to you their findings. We urge you to review and consider this information before you vote in the next election.

Note A – The 1999 Voting Record was compiled by the Oregon AFL-CIO to reflect votes cast in the State House and Senate on the following bills:

SB 722 Cut pensions for new employees HB 2793 Limit minimum wage
SB 1115 Restrict farm worker's rights HB 3605 Limit employers' damages for  school workers killed on the job
HB 2238 Exclude more workers from unemployment insurance HB 3607 Limit employers' penalty for failure to pay wages
HB 2486 Reduce family leave  

Note B – Career Voting Records reflect the voting records compiled by the Oregon AFL-CIO during each legislative session.  They include bills that affected such issues as: prevailing wage, minimum wage, family leave, 8-hour day and overtime, contracting out jobs, workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, collective bargaining and union rights, and funding of road and bridge maintenance.
